The Tornados – Satellites And Sound Effects

The Tornados were an English instrumental group mostly active in the 1960s.

The house band for pioneering record producer Joe Meek. Their original and classic line-up comprised Alan Caddy (guitar), Clem Cattini (drums), Heinz Burt (bass), George Bellamy (rhythm guitar) and Roger LaVern (keyboards). Their instrumental material was composed and produced by Meek, and frequently had a futuristic sound, reflecting Meek's interest in electronics and sound manipulation. '

Although their first single "Love And Fury" bombed, the follow-up "Telstar" caught the public imagination and was a number one hit in both the UK and USA; they were the first British group ever to top the US Hot Hundred. The quintet enjoyed several more UK hits, though the original line-up began to fall apart when Heinz Burt left for a solo career as a vocalist in 1963 — he scored one major UK hit, "Just Like Eddie" later that year— and none of the original members remained by the time the Tornados finally disbanded upon Meek's death in 1967.

(Not to be confused with American surf rock band The Tornadoes, famous for the track "Bustin' Surfboards")

Brumbeat - The Story Of The 60's Midlands Sound

Brumbeat, which originated in the British manufacturing capitol of Birmingham, was never remotely as well-known or recognized (at least, outside of Birmngham) as the Liverpool sound called Merseybeat or, for that matter, as familiar as the so-called "Tottenham Sound" embodied by the Dave Clark Five. Brumbeat, such as it was -- the term derived from the local slang term for Birmingham -- was also never as unified a sound as Merseybeat, possibly because it followed in its wake, and also because Birmingham was a bigger city with more hands involved in making music, from more different angles; and there was no one managerial figure, such as Brian Epstein, who dominated the field with his taste and perceptions in quite the same way in the early years; by the time "Brumbeat" was perceived -- though it could be argued that the term was really a creation of the music press looking for a story circa 1964-1965 -- British rock and roll music was already being perceived as a goldmine on an international scale.

This compilation set is essential listening for fans of 60's British rock'n'roll, and will contain at least a modest revelation or two for even the most sophisticated listener, based on its thoroughness and depth

The Animals...first album from 1964..classic blues and r'n'b from the British invasion era

The Animals were an English band of the 1960's, formed in Newcastle upon Tyne during the early part of the decade. The band moved to London upon finding fame in 1964. They were known for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced front man Eric Burdon, as exemplified by their signature song and transatlantic No.1 hit single, "The House of the Rising Sun", as well as by hits such as "We Gotta Get out of This Place", "It's My Life", "I'm Crying" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The band balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm and blues-oriented album material. They were known in the US as part of the British Invasion.

This, their first album, released in 1964, was mainly cover versions of (now) classic R'n'B, Blues and Rock'n'Roll numbers plus the epic "The Story of Bo Diddley" written by Eric Burdon.

Jimi Hendrix Experience Radio One...live, raw and rockin'

The year was 1967, and Hendrix's career had just blasted off in the UK, when The Jimi Hendrix Experience (Hendrix, Noel Redding, and Mitch Mitchell) came together for several recording sessions for BBC Radio. You will find a number of Hendrix's most memorable songs in this collection, but they differ from the versions most fans are familiar with. Alongside these more familiar tracks are a number of very interesting covers and blues-oriented recordings, a few of which could and should be considered true rarities.

What comes across most from this set is not only how polished and tight a band they really were, but how they also poured their hearts and energy into the music. Be it live concert or in a recording studio, the Experience had few peers. The album RADIO ONE is proof positive that over the airwaves of the usually staid BBC, the Jimi Hendrix Experience was equally as fiery and "untameable".

1. Stone Free
2. Radio One Theme
3. Day Tripper
4. Killing Floor
5. Love Or Confusion
6. Drivin' South
7. Catfish Blues
8. Wait Until Tomorrow
9. Hear My Train A Comin'
10. Hound Dog
11. Fire
12. Hoochie Koochie Man
13. Purple Haze
14. Spanish Castle Magic
15. Hey Joe
16. Foxy Lady
17. Burning Of The Midnight Lamp
